“Conversations in the Garden”
Matt and Bella are going to start something new on the Sundays between the normal church services. The gatherings on 1st and 3rd Sundays will continue unchanged. But on the 2nd and 4th Sundays they will have an informal gathering in the garden. Still at 10:30. Everyone welcome of course. Bella will have the coffee cart fired up and there will be a light liturgy — some music or a poem or topic for discussion.
“Conversations in the Garden” — until someone suggests a better title — will start Sunday (29 Jan) at 10:30am.
Morning Coffee (more mornings!)
Bella started a morning coffee at the church (It’s a Monday Thing!) on Mondays!, and as from January 26, 2024, she has now expanded the coffee service to Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. (“It’s a Monday Thing”; name change required!)
Christmas Day 2023
Matt lead our Christmas Day 2023 (9:00am) church service, and Bella opened up the coffee cart for the general public and also for those who attended the service. According to their website they are just ordinary folk, living in Australia, but with a passion for making a positive difference in the world. Bella runs a sustainable social enterprise selling takeaway coffee to raise funding for these projects. Matt has worked in IT, most recently for an international development agency, but he now focuses on research into the on-going problems of human trafficking.
We welcomed Matt and Bella into membership at Avalon Baps on Maundy Thursday (Easter) 2023.
