“LOOSELY WOVEN” gives FREE XMAS CONCERT
Fund raiser for Amnesty International
The local music group “LOOSELY WOVEN” led by Wayne Richmond, will be giving a free community concert on Sunday 2nd Dec at 2 pm.
(note the earlier than usual time)
This will be a free, light-hearted, acoustic concert (and cabaret). It is called “Universal Child” after the beautiful Annie Lennox song that opens the second half. You will hear 23 fine instrumentalists and singers, and included are violins, flute, harp, clarinets, saxophones , recorders ,guitars, mandolin, concertinas, accordion, keyboard and percussion.
You can enjoy a musical treat and also support human rights by coming .
Wayne Richmond, the leader of the group, is one of the Peninsula’s inspirational leaders in giving live music to the community . Wayne and many of the musicians are Amnesty Members and regularly raise money for Amnesty at Avalon and also at Humph.Hall – Wayne’s venue at Allambie.

The concert is free and so is the afternoon tea but donations will go to Amnesty International in its efforts to help people around the world suffering human rights abuse.
Avalon Amnesty International group is at present working on several campaigns. At our concert we will give supporters a chance to sign letters as part of the Amnesty “Write for Rights” campaign – around the world millions send letters on behalf of people who face discrimination, violence, imprisonment and even death.
On the list this year:
- “Pussy Riot in Russia” – protest music group imprisoned
- Nasrin in Iran who is a human rights lawyer and mother of two and is serving six years’ imprisonment in Tehran as a result of her peaceful human rights work,
- Gao Zhisheng A human rights lawyer in China, endures enforced disappearance, torture, illegal house arrest and imprisonment as a result of his work.
