We thank Arda Aghazarian for taking time out in her busy tour of Australia to visit Avalon. There is nothing as powerful as a firsthand witness account of the situation in Palestine. The film itself I found challenging, in that it powerfully brings together Israelis and Palestinians in attempt to build a dialogue. In their attempt to understand each other’s narrative they too are challenged by the other’s depth of pain. However Arda pointed out that the danger here is that we trivialize the power imbalance which then results in a patronising tone. This led to a very energised and informative discussion.
